Affordable Western Food You Must Try at Katong Point: STREETS OF LONDON

The Katong restaurant and cafe scene never stops to attract hungry food lovers. While there are many eateries to choose from, we would like to recommend a wallet-friendly cafe (important consideration) offering no-frills, authentic dining experience right at Katong Point.

Streets of London cafe offers a scrumptious menu that includes fresh and delicious dishes and hey, talk about Instagram worthy food!

A peek at the menu which will definitely pique your interest. The spread includes the ever popular Fish and Chips, Pasta (with seafood option), Baked Fish, Babyback Ribs, London pride IPA Chicken and many more. What a way to experience communal dining in Katong without spending a bomb.

Driven by his passion for food and cooking, Chef Thomas takes pride in delivering freshly-prepared comfort meals for customers to indulge everyday.

We thought Streets of London has a very beautiful and large interior that bodes well for a good family (kids’ friendly) and friends’ gathering, not to mention a suitable go-to-spot for the Millennial to hang out. The decor looks cosy, calm and hip to customers.

Cute miniatures all the way from London just made it hard for anyone to resist whipping their phone out to take a quick picture. For the Instagrammers, Streets of London cafe certainly meets the criteria to be one of the most instagrammed place in Katong (Joo Chiat Road).

A healthier choice – Baked Fish ($12.80).

Mid-joint wings  marinated with a touch of Green Devil IPA, an American IPA style beer (7 pc for $8).

Did we forget to mention you can enjoy fabulous food and drinks at Streets of London with no GST and no service charge? Yup, you don’t need a silver fork to enjoy great food – all at the Streets of London cafe!

A Memorable 7th Tag Team Birthday Party

A little busy. Yet extra special. This sums up our exciting week!

This week 27 Aug 2016 it’s Lil M’s seventh birthday party and we are so excited to be sharing it with you.

Birthdays are not always a big celebration in our family. For our girls, one big birthday party during Kindergarten(K1/K2) & another big one in Primary 1. Alright, at least for now. We want our girls to look back on the photos and remember those special moments. This year Lil M wanted her birthday party to be held at a location where it’s big enough to invite her whole class, kindy friends (whom she missed), school mates…(Omg!) and she is able to Run with her friends, play/challenge and it’s not ‘babylish’.  We scouted the whole of east area, literally looking high and low for a venue that is fun for both boys and girls (inviting the whole class, party cannot be too girly) and narrowed on Tag Team@ECP. Marine Cove: Babalicious, It’s Simply Delicious (Family Friendly Restaurant)

Now that Marine Cove is opened to public, it’s no surprise that throngs of people would pack the place especially during the weekends. We visited Marine Cove during the night and felt it was very much better to explore the playground during this timing. No scorching sun and best of all, with newly opened eateries there, it’s perfect family bonding time. Continue reading “Marine Cove: Babalicious, It’s Simply Delicious (Family Friendly Restaurant)”

Discovering Katong: Staycation Review @ Holiday Inn Express Singapore Katong

Katong has come a long way from its early days when it was filled with coconut plantations. While these plantations have since become a story of the past, Katong has continued to thrive as a vibrant neighbourhood filled with the charm of Peranakan culture. Pre-war shophouses, colonial bungalows, hip cafes, many culinary choices and exciting hotel accommodations are what you can expect to experience in this tourist attraction.

We had our staycation at newly-opened Holiday Inn Express Singapore Katong and here’s our review:

Holiday Inn Express Singapore Katong

Nestled in the heart of Katong and Joo Chiat district, this 451-room Holiday Inn Express Singapore Katong is newly-opened! Built to cater to value-conscious travellers who want affordable accommodation, this hotel offers a perfect respite after a busy day of exploring city.

We arrived at the hotel lobby and were served by the friendly and hospitable staff.

Visitor Information booth.

Spacious indoor area for hotel guests to chill out.

More chill out spots at the outdoors too.

Hotel Rooms

There were 4 of us and our stay was made even more pleasant with the addition of connecting room.

While the rooms are relatively smaller, we were fine with it as each room was filled with the necessities to make our stay a pleasant one.

A great night’s sleep can’t be completed without a comfortable bed. We were pleased that Holiday Inn Express Singapore Katong has catered to this need nicely. Our bed was comfortable and there were choices of soft and firm pillows.

Hey, a cute little corner at the side of the bed for you to chill out 🙂

Bathroom

The bathroom was certainly clean and well-maintained. Towels and soap were sufficiently supplied. Guessed our only gripe was that iron was not found in the room.

The shower gave good pressure as well.

A wind down spot – beverage making.

It was a lovely touch by the hotel to introduce Smart TV in the rooms. While the hotel may not have a swimming pool, we were well-entertained by their Smart TV and the attractions in the vicinity.

Amenities and Facilities

Hotel Inn Express Singapore Katong offers no-frills amenities and facilities for its hotel guests. They include a fitness centre, self-service business centre, a meeting room, a laundry room, free and fast Wi-Fi, Free Express Start Breakfast or a Grab & Go option.

Self Service Business Centre with iMac desktop stations for guests to use.

If you have little cravings, the hotel also offers Grab & Go option.

Free Breakfast

Good morning, let’s head to the Great Room for our free Express Start breakfast. The selection of breakfast includes carrot cake, baked beans, sausages, scrambled egg, pastries as such.

We were particularly fascinated by this beverage machine. Very cute!

PawFestSG: Giving a Voice to the Voiceless (ITE College Central’s Higher Nitec FYP in Event Management)

Katong Kids Inc have a close affinity to furkids. We love to blog and share about dogs. To many, they may look the same by their colours and breeds but take a closer look, these furkids do have a life larger than themselves. Each of them carries a different, unique and lovable personality that they are yearning to show to their human friends.

After blogging for nearly a year, we realize the public do love to read about dogs. When we heard from Exclusively Mongrels on an adoption drive in East Coast Park, we went to check it out.
