SG50 Cake Design Contest

This month of August has been so eventful and we couldn’t have asked for more!

M&Ms participated in #parkwayparade SG50 Cake Design Contest for the fun of it. It was a good opportunity for them to be soaked up by SG50 celebration atmosphere and at the same time, learnt a little history of our tiny red dot country.

Before they started to create their masterpieces, we explained that the drawing should include themes such as #parkwayparade, #Singapore, #childhoodgames, #racialharmony, #youths etc.

They put on their thinking hats after that and worked on their creations. A considerable amount of time was spent on sketching, erasing, colouring and drawing the outlines. Throughout the process, we personally witnessed how M&Ms put in their heart and soul into this contest.

They knew for sure they were up against many good entries but they were upbeat of their chances and afterall, winning is just part of the process. Learning and enjoying the experience was what they were desiring.

On the final day of submission, we made our way to #parkwayparade and submitted the drawings. Let’s pose with the drawings before submitting them. They wouldn’t be able to get them back after this.

1st Prize : $500 worth PP vouchers
2nd Prize : $200 worth PP vouchers
3rd Prize : $100 worth PP vouchers
5 x Consolations : $50 worth PP vouchers

Yes, only 8 winners will walk away with the above prizes. So many entries, so many nice submissions, how to …..? We kept our faith and hope for the best.

On the day of contest result announcement, we received a surprised call and learnt that Mindy’s drawing came in 5th and won the consolation prize! M&Ms were over the moon!

Macy was pleasantly surprised to spot her drawing being showcased during the award ceremony!

To top it all, the award ceremony was graced by ESM Goh Chok Tong.

M&Ms sporting SG50 T-shirts and caps and receiving the award from ESM Goh Chok Tong. It was a memorable moment for them.

The ceremony ended with cake cutting. Look at the 1st Prize winner. This drawing was made into a 3-D cake.

This cake sums up what Singapore is all about.

M&Ms couldn’t get enough of ESM Goh Chok Tong. They approached him after the ceremony to take more pictures so that they can store into their photo albums.
