We researched and found the biggest playground in Brisbane – Calamvale District Park.
The Playground at Calamvale District Park is a lovely manicured park made up of a range of different play equipment designed to suit Brisbane Kids of a range of ages and abilities. We also love the dual flying foxes that are perfect for challenging the more timid Brisbane Kids in a safe and fun way. It has BBQ’s and seating and plenty of shade. There are also lots of connecting bike baths and various spinning play pieces to bring about hours of amusement. That said, the reason that Calamvale Park is becoming so well-known must be its GIANT enclosed slide, which lives up to its name both in size and fun!
This park was located at a quiet corner of the neighbourhood. The GPS seemed to be dated. We almost missed it but managed to find it after turning two rounds.
Plenty of parking spaces.
There is a toilet at the park. Make ensure all the cubicles are “cleared” before using for safety precaution.
Mindy was unstoppable and dashed towards the playground!

This is the real deal of the playground. A mega flying fox. I guess the length is about 25m to 30m!
Let’s try the Flying Fox!
We lost count how many times M&Ms played on the Flying Fox. I did the hard work…pulling the slide back to the top after they slid down 😦
The next obstacle was the explorer. There were 2 routes for them to climb up to the top – either by ropes or ladder.
Mindy didn’t want me to help her. She wanted to climb by herself. It did look abit scary. But I helped her anyway.
Finally reached the top!
You can slide all the way down….look at the height and the thrill it packs!

That’s not the end. There were still a couple of play areas. One of them was the mini-slide.
Residents can BBQ here.
At the park, there is a walkway where you can take a slow walk and appreciate the nature.
At the end of the walkway was a residential area.
Calamvale District Park was an amazing discovery. It is free and yet offers maximum thrills for kids and families. Do visit this place when you visit Brisbane. These pictures speak more than a thousand words.
We planned to visit South Bank park after we left Calamvale District Park. As I was driving, we saw Calamvale Mall and stopped by for lunch.
We tried the McDonald’s. You can create your own patty.
I drove back to South Bank to explore another Parkland.
The South Bank Parklands are located at South Bank in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The parkland, on the transformed site of Brisbane’s World Expo 88, was officially opened to the public on 20 June 1992.
There are plenty of cafes and restaurants to dine here. This is a perfect place to relax, read a book or chill out.
The locals simply loved the sun and spent their time relaxing.
Over here, there is a man-made beach. The water level is not deep and it is kids-friendly. Take a dip at the beach and enjoy!

At the other end of the Parkland, you will see the Brisbane river.
We wanted to take the ferry but the service was not available.

Our next destination is Mount Coot-tha. On our way up the hills, we chanced upon this quiet nature park and drove in. There was nothing much to see there except for some occasional joggers.
We stopped there for a while. I am a bird-lover and was intrigued by their sounds.

Now continue our journey to Mount Coot Tha. It’s a short drive.

Spotted an Australian brush turkey.
The Australian Brush-turkey has a mainly black body plumage, bare red head, yellow throat wattle (pale blue in northern birds) and laterally flattened tail. The Australian Brush-turkey is not easily confused with any other Australian bird. It is the largest of Australia’s three megapodes (Family Megapodiidae). The megapodes are a distinct family of the group of fowl-like birds (Order Galliformes), which includes quails, turkeys, peafowl and junglefowl.
Next stop – Brisbane Botanic Gardens. It is just less than 3 mins drive from Mount Coot Tha.
The Planetarium closes at 4pm. We had to give it a miss.

Macy started taking Science subject this year and we wanted her to engage more with nature.
We spotted a Kookaburra bird.
On our way back to hotel, we stopped at Toowong and tried a Chinese restaurant called Jackpot Dining. It was packed with customers when we were there. The quality of food was amazing and the prices were almost similar to a normal meal back in Singapore.
Time for some grocery shopping. We hopped by Toowong Village Shopping Centre.
During this trip, we made many trips to Coles and Woolsworth supermarket.
M&Ms love doing grocery shopping. They learnt how to do self check-out as well.
Brisbane is the opposite of Gold Coast. It is quieter and more laid back, a perfect place to spend quality time as a family.

I’m sure my kids would love the flying fox.. But lazy me would probably just let the kids play twice. Sounds tiring for the mummy having to pull the thing back. I love how the Macs in Australia have those happening playgrounds! And yes, the water at the Southbank was freaking cold. So cold that I still remember it. LOL…

I’ve been to most of the places that you have written, but not the free adventure playground! It looks amazing and I can’t wait to bring my kids to my favourite Australian city again… the cloudless blue skies. *happy sigh*

Looks so interesting! We have been wanting to go to Brisbane, recently I saw some pretty good air fares on SQ, but after some time of no action, the fares all went up. Gua gua gua…better luck next time lol
